KY/Barkley
« on: November 23, 2013, 08:57:45 AM »
I fished Ky Lake on Thursday. I arrived at the ramp before first light. I put the boat in at Ledbetter Creek (Kenlake State Park) and fished the creek most of the day due to the wind. I caught three huge drum, a three pound channel cat, a bluegill and several yellow bass. The wind died down finally and I made my way across the lake. I caught another huge drum at this location. By then it was getting late so I headed back to the ramp. I caught all my fish on one lure; a Rapala Rippin' Rap. That is a fish catching lure. Of course I did not catch my target species, black bass.
The next day I ate a leisurely breakfast at the lodge and decided to drive over to Lake Barkley. I tried the Rippin' Rap but no luck. I also tried a crankbait and a jerkbait since the water was in low 50's. Nothing. I got one small bass on a Chigger Craw. Then I tried a spinnerbait. I caught a nice bass on it. Unfortunately those were the only two bass I caught. I could not fish many of the places I wanted too in that creek due to the wind and the fact that even though I charged my batteries the day before, the charge was not enough to give me power to last all day. My batteries are getting old so I guess I need to get a couple of new ones.
Overall, it was a fun trip. I will be back down there in January.

Hey at least you felt some good pulling.   It's fun catching drum too and cats too.

That's true Jack. I also look at it as the big drum give me more experience when catching a big bass.

We have fried up a many and mixed them in with the bass, and no one knew the difference.
