Hopefully Buzzbait will come comment on this.  He has fished and camped there quite often I believe.   I hear its a beautiful lake, but have never been there.

KB, it is indeed a beautiful lake. I am only familar with the half that has Wind Creek State Park in it (it's a very large lake). The lake is deep for sure but has very good fishing on it a good bit of the time...sometimes you want to pull your hair out though :) It has a good population of largemouth as well as spotted bass, crappie, catfish and stripedbass. I have not fished it in a few yearsnow but  at one time I/We fished it about twice a month for 11 years. Both bass and crappie mainly.

Here is a website for Lake Martin. www.lakemartin.com

There is a fishing forum there too. On the right margin and down, there is a "nearby lakes" list. Their chamber of commerce has alot of general info on the surrounding area.
